Day 30

Last but not least, I am thankful that 2011 has been a pretty good year. There hasn't been any major negative life changes and for once my health has decided to cooperate and be nice to me this year. Angelique's progressing extremely well, I lost weight, and I still have all of my loved ones with me.

Couldn't ask for a whole lot more.

Day 29

Today I am thankful for my friends. I am kind of a hermit and don't have a whole lot of them, but the ones I do have are great. They keep me laughing and are always there to listen when things are tough. Plus it's really nice to just go out with people outside of your everyday life and wind down or laugh about things that are happening.

Day 28

Today I am thankful for comfortable shoes. I spent most of the day standing and packaging orders from this amazing retail weekend, and if it weren't for my comfortable shoes I'd be in a whole lot of pain.

(These are my Danskos- they are awesome!)

Day 27

Today I am thankful for the iphone. I used to be one of "those" people that thought it was silly and just a fad, but holy crap was I wrong. I got my first smart phone and will never go back after having one. These things are amazing!

Saturday, November 26, 2011

Day 26

Today I am thankful for everyone who can cook and who has ever cooked something for me. You guys rock. I'd probably starve without you.

Friday, November 25, 2011

Day 25

Today I am thankful for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. It gives retailers everywhere a nice happy boost in sales =)

Thursday, November 24, 2011

Day 24

Today I am thankful for a holiday that allows you to stuff yourself silly. Happy Turkey Day!

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Day 23

Today I am thankful that I don't pee standing up. That whole concept is soooo messy.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Day 22

Today I am thankful for all of my favorite brunch places. I love brunch, insanely so actually. I look forward to the weekends just so I can get it. There is something absolutely wonderful about getting scrambled eggs, chicken fingers, salad, and fritatta all at the same time! YUM

My favorite brunch spots: Cinzettis, Pappadeux, Fresh Fish Company, The Summit, and YaYa's Euro Bistro.

Monday, November 21, 2011

Day 21

Today I am thankful for Adobe Photoshop. I taught myself how to use it several years ago, and it is by far one of my favorite programs. I have yet to master the graphics tablet that goes with it, but I will one of these days! I've used Photoshop more than a zillion times for leisure and for work. I've created everything from work banners, fliers, promotional materials, roleplay signatures, character collages, and have used it several hundred times to get rid of blemishes and/or bad face days in pictures!

Day 20

Today I am thankful for teachers. Their jobs are difficult, especially now, and they don't receive as much respect in the states as they should. They are a huge part of shaping all of us into who we are by educating us in different aspects of the world. I have had some amazing teachers that have had an impact on my life.

Mrs. Oborn (Kindergarten), Mrs. Justice (1st grade), Mrs. Abbott (5th grade), Mr. Baldelli (Middle school science), Mrs. McCall (High school counselor), Mr. Mazenko (High school english- he was crazy!), Dr. Fair (High school Literature), Mr. Stallings (High School Figure Drawing), Mr. Anderson (High school Statistics), Ms. Wyndham (High school Geography).

Saturday, November 19, 2011

Day 19

Today I am thankful for people who spay and neuter their pets (and crazy relatives, weird neighbors, etc) There are so many animals out there that need homes that I am glad there are some responsible people who prevent even more unwanted pets from entering the world.

Friday, November 18, 2011

Day 18

Today I am thankful that I was able to travel around the world to exciting places when I was younger. I've been to Finland, England, Sweden, Jordan, and Italy. There are so many other places I can't wait to see.

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Day 17

Today I am thankful for books, and the amazingly talented authors who write them. I've lost myself so many times in their elaborate worlds.

I've lost sleep too, reading till 4am... which I'm not so thankful for, but you know what I mean.

Some of my all time favorites: The Sword of Truth Series, Ella Enchanted (LOVED this as a kid), Twilight Series, Sookie Stackhouse Series, Brave New World, The Lovely Bones, Desperation (Stephen King in general) and many more I know I am forgetting.

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Day 16

Today I am grateful that I have the ability to go to college. I may not always like it, but I do appreciate the fact that I can go. It makes me miserable sometimes, but I am so glad I am going.

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Day 15

Today I am thankful for my motivation. It helped me lose 30lbs and successfully complete my first 5k. Without it, I wouldn't have accomplished either of those goals. My motivation went into hiding lately, but I'm hoping it will pay me another visit here soon. (Please, I miss you!)

Monday, November 14, 2011

Day 14

Today I am thankful for doctors and nurses. Their jobs are hard, messy, long, and sometimes miserable, but they still do it to help the rest of us feel better and to keep us healthy.

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Day 13

Today I am thankful for the symptom checker on webmd.com. So I kind of maybe might be a little bit of a hypochondriac... just a tiny bit.

Basically, whenever something in my body hurts or doesn't feel well, I rush to webmd or the app for my iphone (yes, there is one! Hypochondriac's rejoice!) and put it in its little symptom checker thingie. It's great because it lets you pick the part of the body and then the exact symptom. And it will ask you questions about the symptom to narrow it down. It then gives you a list of potential ailments!

The bad thing is, cancer has a lot of symptoms that are also part of everyday common illnesses, so it comes up a lot as a result. The good news is, if I ever do actually get cancer, I've seen it pop up so many times in my webmd results that I shouldn't be too surprised.

Day 12

Today I am thankful for health insurance (eventhough it's a shitty plan.) I took it for granted most of my life, until I didn't have it. I spent the past year without it and that was miserable. Always worrying what you're going to do if you get really sick or end up in a serious accident.

I finally have my health insurance back, and am grateful for it. Just to know it's there in case something happens.

Friday, November 11, 2011

Day 11

It's veterans day, so today I am thankful for all of our Veterans- past, current, and future. I admire all of them so much for putting their lives at risk in order to protect our rights and freedoms in the states. What you guys do for us deserves the highest level of respect.

Thank you

Day 10

Today I am thankful for social networking sites and programs like skype. As a generally anti social individual, they have allowed me to keep in touch with people whom I'd usually never get a chance to talk to. I've made tons of great friends by turning casual acquantainces on facebook into chat buddies.

I've also been fortunate enough to talk to my own family who lives halfway across the world because of facebook. I grew up not knowing what my cousins in Finland ever did, and now I can chat with them every day and get constant feeds on what is going on in their lives. I also am able to get to know my boyfriends mom and family, who also live overseas, where as a few years ago, I'd never have that opportunity.

Technology today is absolutely amazing.

Day 9

I am thankful for Angelique. We've been watching it grow for over 5 years now, and every year it keeps getting better and better. It's been a crazy lesson in how to run a business, but it's been completely fantastic. We've made some mistakes that were devestating, but we also made some that increased business like crazy. It's stressful not knowing what will or will not work, but it's always a lot of fun and so rewarding to see your hard work actually pay off.

I love being my own boss (eventhough my sister sometimes thinks she's mine too, ha!) and I love setting my own hours and seeing the direct benefits of all the work we put into it. It's nice having a job that I don't hate getting up for every day =)

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Day 8

Today I am thankful for my sister. Lately we have been stepping on each other's toes, but she is still great. We're bound to drive each other crazy working and living together all the time, but we still manage to have a good time when we hang out. She puts up with my crap, and I put up with hers, and we both know when the other is full of it, LOL.

I read a great quote once that definitely defines my relationship with her. "A sister is like a best friend you can't get rid of."

Monday, November 7, 2011

Day 7

I'm thankful for my puppies today. Chloe and Dakota are my furry little children and I love them to pieces. When I wake up in the morning to let Chloe out she happily bounces around, excited to go outside, get breakfast, and receive her daily dose of rubs. Their lives are so simple and they are always so happy to see me, which always brings a smile to my face.

Their faces greeting me with their tongues out and tails wagging is the best thing to come home to.

Day 6

Today I am thankful for heated cars! I was up in Rocky Mountain National Park today and it was soooo cold! The temperature was only about 20 degrees, but the wind chill kicked my butt. We spent a lot of time stopping at scenic spots to take pictures, and although it was stunningly beautiful, I cringed a little each time we had to get out.

Luckily the SUV we had included a pretty awesome heating system, so the car was always warm when we got back to it. I was very glad we had working heat and can only imagine how miserable it must be to drive in the winter without it.

Day 5

I was out of town for a day, so I have to catch up on my thankfullnesses (that's a word, right?)!

Today I am thankful for music. It has the power to control your emotions, state a point, invoke a feeling, and just make you smile and laugh. It's great for passing boredom, or for drowning out your sorrows. It's fun to play loudly and sing along to, and it's great to dance to. It's a great conversation starter and ender.  Unsure of what to talk about or need to get rid of an akward silence? Ask about music tastes or play a song you like. Need to shut your chatty sibling up? Play music loudly.

Lately my music favorites include: Christina Perri, Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, One Republic, and In Flames.

Day 4

Today and everyday (well except those days where I want to throw a heavy object at him) I am thankful for my boyfriend, who is also my best friend.

I talk about him a lot I noticed, and I can't help it- I am incredibly crazy about him! That's not a bad thing, is it? He's such a huge part of my life that it's difficult not to talk about him :) He's been with me through some crazy and empotional times, and the best part about him is that he lets me be me. I could could gush about him for 100 pages, but I'm not going to bore you all with that.

All you need to know is that I am very thankful for him :)

Day 3

Today I am thankful for the kindness of strangers.

My brother's friend got his car stuck in the grass while trying to reverse down our very steep driveway in the snow. I had to get to work this morning, so I went out to start shoveling some of the snow away in an attempt to get him out so I could leave. While I'm doing this, a man drives by that I have never met and asks me if I need any help. I didn't have the keys to the car to move it so I declined but thanked him about 100 times for offering.

Last winter I also got my car stuck (my lil coupe doesn't do too hot in the snow) and a complete stranger hooked my car up via a towing cable and pulled me out of the snowy ditch I was in.

It amazes me how someone you don't even know, who probably has to be somewhere as well and has their own things to do, will stop to offer you some help if they see you stranded. They are geniunely kind.

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Day 2

Today I am thankful for my electric blanket. It sounds silly because it's just a blanket, but holy crap do I love that thing. I'm someone who is cold all the time, so that blanket is my life saver. We got hit with a pretty decent snow storm and the house was freeezzzinggg! If I didn't have my blanket, I am sure I would have died from hypothermia in my sleep.

Month of November- Day 1

It's officially November 1st (actually it's an hour away from being November 2nd, so I better make this quick) and since Thanksgiving is this month, I thought it would be fun to post about something I am thankful for every day this month. There's a strong chance I'll skip a few days, but hopefully I'll get them all.

Day 1:

I am thankful for my family. There are some days where I want to throw heavy objects at them, but for the most part they are great. My family knows I'm crazy, so they don't judge me when I have a crazy outburst (most of the time) It's also really nice to be comfortable being myself around them. I can stroll into the kitchen with an ugly night gown, no makeup, hair unbrushed, sobbing and laughing at the same time and nobody will act like it's a big deal. It's definitely something I take for granted sometimes. It is also really nice to know that no matter how badly I mess up or make a stupid decision, my family will always be there for me. They can't divorce or dump me, they're pretty much stuck with me forever.
